Semester Abroad in a Minute

Okay...more like 3 minutes, but that's still shorter than some of my vlogs!
This will most likely be my final post, thanks for following!

Drøbak

Eva's garden!
I'm obsessed with that rusty candelabra.
Super good dairy, gluten, etc. free cupcake!
Just climbin' the mountain behind the house, no big.
Also obsessed with this mosquito net and bed frame.
This lake near the house leads out into the Oslo Fjord!
Town center of Drøbak!
The city is known for its roses. They're everywhere!
Basically a European Lowe's/Home Depot/Menards.
We made pizza on my last night in Norway!

HOME

Yesterday at about 7:30 pm I finally touched down in Des Moines after about 24 hours of solid traveling! So far, it feels weird, but mostly good to be home! Thanks also to Glenna and Shannon for coming to see me at the airport! :)
FAMILY! (AND BALLOONS!)
Welcome home sign on our garage door :)

Although I'm home now, I still have a few more posts about my travels in Norway and my overall final thoughts on studying abroad so look out for those!

Norway!

Tomorrow morning I'm leaving to go to Norway for about a week and a half! I will be staying in Drobak which is a town just a bit south of Oslo. I signed up through a program called WWOOF (http://www.wwoof.org/) to work on an organic farm. I contacted my host, Eva, and I'm all set to stay with her! This is extra great because Norway is a really expensive country to visit, and I probably wouldn't have gotten to go if not for this! Although my study abroad experience is now technically over (except for those papers I have due in February...), I'm really excited to get to extend my travels for a bit. Stay tuned for pictures and updates after Norway as well as after I get back to the US (July 17th)!

Hrvatska (Croatia in Croatian!)

Jen and I had one last trip together before she leaves for the US of A tomorrow (Ahh!). We decided to visit Split, Croatia where a bunch of our friends from Klagenfurt are from! Great decision on our part. Split has the beaches of Greece, as much Roman history as Rome, and the nightlife of Istanbul. Needless to say, I loved it!
We got to Split at about 5 in the morning which gave us a good chance to walk around the city when it wasn't crowded or unbelievably hot!
We saved money by making sandwiches in our little apartment!  It was really nice, especially after we discovered the air conditioning...
Just a random beautiful spot inside Diocletian's Palace.
Beach!
The third day we took the advice of our Croatian friends and went to the island of  Brač by ferry. This is the view of Split we got from the boat!
On the ferry!
We decided to rent a paddle boat for an hour. Definitely worth it!
Chillin' inside the palace!
Two of our many Croatian friends from Split, Karlo and Marino.

MOUNTAINS

On my last Wednesday in Klagenfurt, I finally climbed some Austrian mountains/hills! I went with Jen and my Slovakian neighbor Pavol, and we got some really great views!

Pavol and I at the start of the hike!

Great view of the Worthersee.

We found this sweet tree house that was actually super sturdy!

We're in a tree house!

Just jumping and frolicking on an Austrian hillside, you know.

Austrian Life: Then and Now

Today is my last day in Klagenfurt. :( So, I thought I'd show you some pictures of how much different the city looks from when I got here in February until now!
Not the same street, but these are the same trees!
The theatre
The canal that runs from the lake to the city center.
Alterplatz
City Hall. The big screen set up is for the public viewing of the European Soccer Championships.
The Lindwurm!

Sunset at the lake in winter and summer!

Austrian Life: Grocery Stores

Sadly, I'm having some troubles with the video I took on the bus. So instead, you get some pictures of my favorite three grocery stores, yay!

Budapest!

Holding Hungarian Forint! The exchange in Forint is about 260 Forint to 1 Euro, so everything cost hundreds or thousands of Forint. So confusing!
Luz, Jen, and I standing outside the Hungarian Opera House where we saw a ballet version of 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'.
Lángos, a traditional Hungarian 'fast food'.
Sweet picture from the wine tasting cruise we took down the Danube!
Liberty/Green Bridge
The baths where Jen and I went swimming and got pedicures!
Standing on Margaret Bridge and gesturing towards Margaret Island. Budapest loves me.
